FYPers, family, and friends:

The People Caring for the Community Inc. (PCCI) will sponsor a “TIANGGE FESTIVAL” for the Community on April 14, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the PCCI property located on West Bellfort corner of Riceville (about 0.3 miles off Beltway 8).

Support Filipino Young Professionals of Houston and other vendors by inviting your family and friends to this event. There will be several booths and various types of new and used items for sale. Make sure to bring your cash, wear sunscreen, and GET READY TO SHOP!

Do you have new and/or used items that you no longer want or don’t have room to store? Get a head start on your spring cleaning and consider donating to FYP. We are looking for new and/or gently used clothes, shoes, books, household items, décor, art, etc. Contact Catherine at fyphouston@gmail.com for more information.

Directions to the PCCI lot:

1) From North Beltway – Exit West Airport, then make U turn and right on West Bellfort.

2) From South Beltway – Exit on West Bellfort.

3) From South Hwy. 59 – Exit on Murphy, stay on the feeder road and right on West Bellfort pass Beltway 8.

4) From North Hwy. 59 – Take South Beltway 8 – Exit on West Airport and make a U turn to West Bellfort.

FYP is committed to keeping mother nature clean and preserving its beauty – and why not start in our own backyard: Japhet Creek.

We are looking for at least 15 volunteers to help restore Japhet Creek together with Japhet Creek Nature Conservancy.

MARCH 24, 9am-12pm
Japhet Creek: 4600 Clinton at the Southeast corner of Emile St, 77020

All you need are comfortable clothes and shoes, a water bottle, and a signed waiver.
Tool, gloves, and water provided (just bring that water bottle!).

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes

Listen up FYPers and PATAK!

Over 26 million children and adults in the U.S. have diabetes, 1/3 of them don’t know it, and over 79 million are pre-diabetic. Every 21 seconds someone in this country is diagnosed with diabetes. If current trends continue, 1 in 3 children born today will develop this chronic disease in their lifetime.

A study in the Houston metropolitan area concluded that Filipinos are at higher risk for type 2 diabetes than the U.S. non-Hispanic white population

(Diabetes Care, Vol. 24, Number 12, Dec. 2001).

We can do our part by walking together and raising money to help fund diabetes research, education advocacy. Bring your family, friends, and co-workers. Kids and dogs are also welcome!

TIME: 7:30 AM – Registration/Check-in Begins

8:30 AM – 5K Run Begins; 9:00 AM – 3K Walk Begins
