Fundraising Director
Sarah Bronson
"Your power is relative, but it is real. And if you do not learn to use it, it will be used, against you, and me, and our children. Change did not begin with you, and it will not end with you, but what you do with your life is an absolutely vital piece of that chain." –Audre Lorde
Sarah Bronson was brought up and raised in many places including the Philippines, but put her roots down in Houston. She is a graduate of Rice University where she majored in English and psychology. She now works as a scientific editor, where she edits research manuscripts and grants and educates authors about scientific writing and publishing.
Sarah originally joined FYP Houston because she missed experiencing Filipino culture. From there, she met many of her now dearest friends in FYP and served on the board in three different roles. Now as our Fundraising Director, her goals are to help resource our mission to share the culture, to grow her community organizing abilities, and to be an active "villager” in our greater Houston community.
In the rest of her time, Sarah is a regular dancer and lead with FYP Cultural Ambassadors, and she recently created and performed a pole dance routine set to Ruby Ibarra and incorporating nods to folk dance. However, she still finds a foundation in her original creative identity as a writer!
In her own words:
“FYP is a great place to find a niche in our local community. Also, consider joining one of the leadership teams as an opportunity to bring your values to life.”
